Anyone who has had treatment for cleft lip and palate here in Australia or overseas maybe suitable for revisionary surgery if they have concerns regarding their lip scars, lip balance, or speech production.

When consulting with Dr O’Mahony regarding cleft lip and palate she will take a careful history of how you have been treated in the past and what procedures you have had already.She will also be interested in any additional specialists or allied health involvement such as ENT surgeons or Speech Pathologists. Dr O’Mahony will assess your lip, palate and facial features, and then focus on the areas of concern to you. if surgery is appropriate she will discuss your options with you. You may need to be referred to other specialists such as dentists, speech pathologists of other subspecialist plastic surgeons as part of your care.

Our approach to your care

Dr O’Mahony has extensive training and experience in the treatment of cleft lip and palate. She is a member of the Cleft multidisciplinary team at the Queensland Children’s hospital and works closely with the other specialists and allied health practitioners in Queensland who specialise in Cleft lip and palate care. As a Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon with a special interest in paediatric and adult surgery she feels it is very important for patients born with cleft lip and palate to have quality care from birth right through to adulthood and beyond when necessary.
